Take your dance to
the next level
With its roots in African American culture, Lindy Hop emerged from Harlem, New York, in the 1930s. As a street dance, it was a form of creative expression and release in a time of racial oppression. Danced predominantly to big band swing and jazz, Lindy Hop is a joyful and social dance with connection at its core: connection between you, your dance partner, the music and the broader dance community.
“This dance is our passion and we are excited to be able to share the dance in our local
neighborhood in Inglewood.”
Our beginner classes run over a 6-week block. Learn the foundations of how to Aconnect with a partner, basic footwork rhythms and moving with the music. Be the end of a beginner block, you will have learnt enough patterns and techniques to come out to social dancing events with confidence.
Private lessons are available for dancers of all levels, including advanced. A one-hour private lesson can be tailored to suit your needs and interests, to further develop your technique, refine your quality of movement and work on more complex rhythms and variations. Private lessons may be booked as an individual (lead or follow), or as a couple (lead and follow).
” ABen & Bron from Got That Swing are incredible teachers. They make you feel very welcome and make sure the classes are lots of fun. The beginners 6 weeks course taught us so much more than I expected. Each session covers a few key moves and lots of practice time. They use great phrases so you can remember which move is which and they even do a recap at the beginning of the class. You don’t need to bring anything to class, just yourself and a willing to learn. I’ve had such great fun learning a dance style that I’m not used to and I would recommend this course for anyone looking to learn the swing basics, even if you’ve never done any partner dancing before. “

” Ben and Bron ran a fun class that enabled complete beginners to learn enough to have a dance at Friday Swing at the Mustang Bar. Never thought I’d venture onto an actual dance floor but ‘Got that Swing’ made it happen.”
